Slam bringen neues Album „Anthenaem 101“ auf Soma Records raus

Die Jungs von Slam sind wie immer fleißig am schuften und bringen nach ihrem letzten Album „Machine Cut Noise“, welches 2016 erschien, nun endlich ihr nächstes Album „Anthenæum 101“ raus. Das dynamische Glasgower Duo, bestehend aus Stuart McMillan und Orde Meikle, gönnt sich wohl selten mal ‘ne Pause, denn wenn man sich mal den Verlauf ihrer musikalischen Karriere genauer anschaut, veröffentlichen die beiden stätig neue EPs, Compilations oder Mixe auf ihrem eigenen Label Soma Records.

Mit Ihrem neuen Album zeigen sich die beiden Schotten mal von einer ganz anderen, emotialen Seite. Verschiedene Texturen und Sequenzer sorgen für eine fließende Downtempo-Reise. Anfangs wird man mit schillernden Klanglandschaften und hypnotisierenden Melodien eingeleitet, eingetaucht in die Tiefe des Wassers, bevor diese mit dem dystopischen Dub-Futurismus wieder auftaucht.

Das Album geht den beiden sehr nahe und wahr in erster Linie auch ein Experiment, wie Stuart McMillan verrät: “With this, we were trying to redefine the usage of the genre (Techno) and how similar noises and elements can be used differently. We’ve always been influenced by quite extreme heavy Dub, as well as Avant Garde Electronica and of course Techno, and have always drawn a parallel between those musical forms. So there are a lot of Dub influences interfused throughout too. This album is a process we’ve been talking about doing for a long time. It’s 101 BPM lasts for 1 hour and one-minute long. Some elements from each idea continue into the next. There are no tracks in the traditional sense per se, rather a collection of sequences and textures and percussive elements that when pieced together tell a complete story.”

Am 9. Oktober haben Slam bereits ihre neue EP „Cyclone“ veröffentlicht, das Album folgt am 30. November auf CD & digital.
