Richie Hawtin und Paris Hilton - das neue Traumpaar

Richie Hawtin und Paris Hilton haben sich auf Ibiza getroffen. Skrillex und Dubfire waren auch dabei. Davon gibt es jetzt ein Video, in dem die Vier an der sagenumwobenen Ice Bucket Challenge teilnehmen. Im Endeffekt lassen sich die Drei einfach nur im Amnesia von Paris Hilton mit Eiswasser übergießen. Und nein, Richie legt keine ‚Files‘ (?) zusammen mit der US-Celebrity auf. Und es gibt einen schönen Schnappschuss. Den seht ihr hier. Ob man die ALS-Aktion jetzt gutheißen muss oder nicht – darüber wurde schon so viel Unwichtiges geschrieben, dass ich mich hier enthalten möchte. Aber, man kann sich ja zumindest einreden, es ginge um einen guten Zweck.
Alles im grünen Bereich, denkt sich jeder normal denkende Mensch mit einem IQ über Raumtemperatur. Aber nein – weit gefehlt. Auf der Facebook-Seite unseres Cover-Acts aus dem Monat August ist ein wahrer Shit-Storm entfacht. Man wirft ihm Sell-Out vor, wie er sich mit solch einer Person, die nur vorgibt DJ zu sein, ablichten lassen kann. Dass ihn dieser extreme Gegenwind überrascht und enttäuscht hat, erklärt wohl sein Statement, das ihr untenstehend findet. Auch wenn er schreibt, dass es ihn nicht tangiert, scheint es wohl nicht ganz zu stimmen. Seine Aussagen sind – meiner Meinung nach – sehr wahr und verdeutlichen die Crux der sogenannten ‚Underground-Szene“, die es laut Hawtin und Troxler nicht mehr gibt. Aber lest selbst das Statement von Richie. Wenn ihr etwas nicht verstehen solltet, ruft bei uns im Büro an und sprecht auf den Anrufbeantworter.

Who cares about who hangouts with who and who does what….all these posts about Richie and Dubfire being sell outs because of a little video with Skrillex and Paris?
So what 1. people forget these two have spearheaded a movement in the techno world that has allowed so many of us to share our sounds and dreams with people all over the world, not just a small afterparty or warehouse like it used to be, these guys are real pioneers…
2. The main focus of video being scrutinized is about charity, not about who is supporting who and „selling out“ and
3. I hung with Skrillex and he was much nicer and more down to earth than many of „underground“ djs I’ve met in this business. The reality is there isn’t really such thing as „underground“ any more…like Troxler said, these days underground just means „amateur“, and its true, techno is becoming much more well known and loved across all demographics around the world. Maybe I will lose some fans over this post who won’t think I’m „cool and underground“ for writing this, but this is my opinion and I’m not afraid to share it. Of course I don’t like the music Paris plays, or Skrillex either, but why judge someone on their taste (or lack of) in music, in the end its just a personal opinion and there is no right or wrong. I don’t search for and play music that I think is „underground“, I simply play the music I LOVE, whether you want to call it techno, house, dub, pop, it really doesn’t matter to me because its just a sound I love, and really I think thats what all that should matter. If Paris loves the music she’s playing, and her fans love it too, then let them be and do their thing, who knows what her listeners of today will be listening to tomorrow. When I got into this music scene I was a big fan of Tiesto. Do I like the music he’s playing now? No. DO I still respect him and owe a big part of my early inspiration with electronic music to him? Yes. So people should stop being haters and realize, everyone starts somewhere and just because someone plays music/does things/hangs with people that you don’t agree with doesn’t make them or you right or wrong, just live and let live. Rant over.“
